Our most elegant evening shoe: the Vienna24, a whole-cut Oxford cut from a single piece of black patent French calfskin, with no seam to interrupt the shine. The patent finish gives it a deep, mirror-like gloss that needs no polish, only a damp cloth and a soft dry one. It has five eyelets with closed lacing and an orange calfskin lining, and is made by hand in Europe. For black tie and formal weddings, and for the evenings around Christmas and New Year.

Use a leather conditioner every few months to keep the leather hydrated and soft

Regular polishing maintains shine and protect leather from damage

Use a high-quality shoe polish- Apply with a soft cloth, then buff to a shine with a shoe brush

Wooden shoe trees help maintain shoe shape, absorb moisture, and prevent creasing

Store in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight & heat

Ensure the perfect fit

  1. Wear socks similar to the ones you plan to wear with the shoes.
  2. Stand upright with your heel against the wall.
  3. Mark the longest part of your foot (usually the tip of your big toe or second toe)
  4. Use the ruler to measure the distance from the wall (heel) to the toe mark.
  5. Repeat the process for both feet, as one foot is often slightly larger than the other.
  6. Use the measurement of the longer foot when determining your shoe size.
  7. Use our shoe size chart from Reinhard Frans (located above next to sizes) to convert your foot length to the correct shoe size.

Artisan Rubber

Patent calfskin is finished with a lacquer that sits on top of the grain. It does not develop a patina the way open leather does, and it does not need polishing. A damp cloth and a soft dry buff is the whole routine.

The Artisan Rubber sole is a Reinhard Frans blend of natural rubber. The profile runs thin, so a formal shoe keeps its slim line while gaining grip on wet stone. Quieter than leather on a hard floor, which matters in a room where people are seated.
