If there’s one rule we want to give you regarding the care of your shoes, it’s to use a pair of shoe trees. By using them just once a day, you can significantly extend the lifespan of your leather shoes. Shoe trees are absolutely essential to keep your shoes in the best possible condition.

The most important thing when using a shoe tree is to insert it within an hour of taking off your shoes. The easiest way is to insert the wooden shoe trees immediately after removing your shoes.

Our feet produce heat and sweat throughout the day, and the leather and lining absorb that moisture, which can cause the leather to crack. An odor can develop, and the leather can become damaged. All of this shortens the lifespan of the shoes. Shoe trees help to counteract these effects, keeping the shoes and the leather in better condition for longer.

Using Wooden Shoe Trees

Wooden shoe trees absorb moisture, prevent odors, and keep the shoes in shape so they dry properly without creasing. Shoes can take up to 24 hours to fully dry before they’re ready to wear again. We therefore recommend rotating your shoes during the week. Even if they’re your favorite pair, try giving them a day off to avoid wearing them multiple days in a row. The ideal shoe rotation is one pair on your feet, one pair with shoe trees, and the rest in their boxes.

Here’s a small tip: shoe trees also make polishing your shoes much easier by acting as an extra pair of hands and keeping your shoes in shape while you polish and brush them.
