The Art of Patina
Mix Colors
A patina is a combination of different layers of color. The unfinished calfskin is called a ‘crust’. This skin has an open pore to accept liquid paint. The ‘crust’ skin has a beige color when entering the atelier. Different colors of paint are mixed to create the desired patina.
Level of Shine
The exterior of a handmade shoe is connected to a person’s identity. Luxury is determined by the amount of shine. Increased shine enhances the intensity of colors from the patina.
