The Bolzano is the most robust shoe we make: a lace-up boot in dark brown Italian Mastrotto suede, built like a combat boot but made a little more elegant. It has metal eyelets and speed hooks, double-stitched seams and an orange leather lining. It stands on our Extra Light Country sole, which has a notched country tread but weighs far less than a traditional rubber sole. Sturdy enough for a weekend away, and smart enough for a city trip.

Self Returns online can be easily processed by logging into your Reinhard Frans account and requesting a refund for your order. Returns shipments are for the customers account, alternatively you can visit any one of our stores for a FREE refund or exchange.

Care for Your Shoes

Regularly brush your shoes with a suede brush to remove dirt and maintain the nap of the suede.

Brush in the same direction to avoid damaging the fibers.

Spray shoes with a suede protector. This will create a barrier against water, stains, and dirt.

If your shoes get wet, let them dry naturally away from direct heat.

Tough Stains- Apply a small amount of white vinegar to a cloth and dab the stain.

Store in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight. Use a shoe tree to maintain the shape

Ensure the perfect fit

  1. Wear socks similar to the ones you plan to wear with the shoes.
  2. Stand upright with your heel against the wall.
  3. Mark the longest part of your foot (usually the tip of your big toe or second toe)
  4. Use the ruler to measure the distance from the wall (heel) to the toe mark.
  5. Repeat the process for both feet, as one foot is often slightly larger than the other.
  6. Use the measurement of the longer foot when determining your shoe size.
  7. Use our shoe size chart from Reinhard Frans (located above next to sizes) to convert your foot length to the correct shoe size.

Combat Boot

A combat boot is a lace-up boot with roots in military footwear: a higher shaft, eyelets and speed hooks for quick lacing, and a sturdy treaded sole. Made in suede or leather and set on a lighter sole, the style moves from the field into everyday wear. It is a practical boot for wet days in town and for weekends outdoors. At Reinhard Frans it is the most robust shoe we make.

Featured Materials

Extra light Country

Mastrotto is the best suede we can buy: the top tannery in the region, and by some margin the most expensive material in the shoe. Full grain, tightly napped, dyed deep through, which is why it holds its shape and its colour instead of going patchy where the shoe flexes.

The Extra Light Country sole is EVA rather than rubber, which is where the name comes from: a notched country tread at a fraction of the weight. Grip on wet stone and loose ground, without the heft of a commando sole.
